Lighthouse in Curra Dock

Puerto de Cartagena
-Cartagena-

Spanish name: faro del muelle de la curra

Lighthouse in Curra Levee, Cartagena Murcia Also known as "faro verde" (green lighthouse) because of the color of its dome, this 19th-century building is on the Curra levee, in the entry to the Port of Cartagena next to the Navidad levee. This lighthouse was built to help vessels avoid the underwater port slab, a giant 10,000 cubic meter rock that required proper sailing skills to avoid it. Many boats at the time had problems with this slab.

The lighthouse, a white and green cylindrical 12-meter tower with a light range of 5 nautical miles, was recently restored. There is currently a project to connect it to Cortina Cove.
