Hormiga Island Lighthouse in Cabo de Palos. Murcia This lighthouse, located in Hormigas Islands to warn on the danger of sealing near this area, was first built in 1862 but destroyed soon after by a huge storm. In 1870 the new lighthouse was comprised of a 20-meter diameter building on which a 12-meter tower was placed, for a total height of 23 meters above sea level. The headlamp light can be seen from 8 nautical miles (14.8 km) and is generated by an automated power source supplied by 6 solar panels.
