Spanish name: Castillo de Alcalá. Cómo llegar

Every time I drove on the freeway or old road of Caravaca, near
Mula I always saw the pudding-shaped hillock at the back of the valley, with a stone wall sort of hiding what seemed to be a castle, with its tower pointed to the sky.
Out of curiosity and pure determination to climb to the "top of the pudding", I wandered around the area until I found the trail leading me and my inseparable Pumba to the top of the hill.
The
Alcalá Castle is an impressive fortress with magnificent views of Mula and many other areas in the region.
Get directions:
Murcia - Caravaca de la Cruz freeway. Take the Mula & Yechar exit. At the roundabout, head towards Puebla de Mula. After driving through Puebla de Mula, take the road to Librilla (C2) on your right to get to the bottom of the mountain. Continue for about a kilometer until you see on your right a "Vía Pecuaria" sign and a dirt road. Park and continue on the trail leading to the castle entrance after walking up some stone stairs.
Since I did not know the way the first time I went, I parked long before and walked up across fields until I eventually found the trail. I also did a full circle around the castle base looking for the entrance. That is why the Wikiloc route shows the route across the field on the way there, but the way back shows the trail I just mentioned.
