Sujeto Island

Mar Menor
-Cartagena-

Spanish name: Isla del Sujeto

Sujeto Island in Mar Menor With a surface area of 2.4 hectares, this island is half a kilometer away from the coast, very near the islands of Ciervo and Rondella. All three of them are of volcanic origin, although Sujeto island is lower, flatter and the only one which has an actual crater.

Since it is more remote than the other two, its vegetation is better preserved, with species such as thyme, white rock-roses, European apteranthes and lavender. It is also a breeding site for yellow-legged gulls and egrets.
