Spanish name: Fiesta de los Molinos
Last Saturday, April 27, 2012, we went to Fiesta de los Molinos en Torre Pacheco, where a Torre Pacheco City Hall tourist guide gave us a wonderful explanation of how windmills work. The tourist guide illustrated her words in “El Molino del Pasico”, a windmill fully restored and equipped with utensils from its time. We learned that three different types of windmills were used in Campo de Cartagena: Molinos Harineros (used for making flour by rotating and access with the wind energy), Arcabuces (used to get water from the wells) and Salineros (used to grind the salt obtained in the saltflats).
We also attended the ceremony honoring the windmill expert of the year, Mr. Juan Lino León Pedreño. On Sunday, the horse and carriage parade between Torre Pacheco and Molino del Pasico did not take place because of the rain.
