Nice route for
hiking in Murcia. This fun and simple route is known for the lovely views trekkers enjoy along the way. This 7.8 km circular route, a favorite of trekkers and cyclists, goes along pathways in good condition as well as a forest trail.
In the parking area, you will see a fence making it impossible to continue driving. Park and continue on foot on the forest trail that leads to Pico del Relojero, although you should get on the trail on your left that is not signposted. This easily spotted trail is some 2.5 kilometers from the start of the trek.
On the way there you will walk right below the King Kong Wall and on the way back you will be on top of the actual Wall, with fantastic views of the entire Cresta del Gallo Hills in the Valle y Carrascoy Regional Park. After completing the walk, you can eat at Venta del Garruchal, on top of the Garruchal mountain pass, on the road to San Pedro del Pinatar.
Getting there
There are a number of roads leading to the start of “Muralla de King Kong”. The one we present here starts at the Garruchal mountain pass. Simply go to Garres and take the road to San José and then the RM F13, the road leading to Puerto del Garruchal (Garruchal mountain pass). After about 7 kilometers, take a paved road known as “carril de los Puros” (although it is posted, some trash containers right next to the crossroad between the road your are on and "carril de los Puros" will serve as reference). Keep driving on the paved road which, after approximately 3 kilometers, turns into a dirt road. After about 1800 meters there is a sign saying the road ends in 50 meters. However, the fence we mentioned earlier is still 1100 meters away. Keep driving towards it and park your car next to the fence...enjoy the route!
