Templete is a Baroque building of hexagonal shape inside a circular outer wall. The building, designed by architect
José López, has four bodies: the podium supporting the building, the main body, the dome decorated with Arab tiles and the lantern.
The building is also known as El Bañadero (meaning bathtub) as people used to bath here because they thought its waters had healing properties. As a result of this tradition, every year on May 3 people celebrate the ritual of bathing the cross to honor the Holy Cross of Caravaca.
