Spanish name: Teatro Guerra

Teatro Guerra 19th century. Eclectic Style.

This is one of Lorca's most important buildings of its time as it played both a social and architectural role. Teatro Guerra, the oldest theater in the region, was inaugurated in 1861 thanks to common efforts made by private investors and the city's Town Hall. Teatro Guerra, member of the Spanish Theater Network, offers a very interesting yearly program.

The busts of Tirso de Molina, Lope de Vega, Calderón de la Barca and Moratín, all well-known playwrights in Spain, are displayed on the theater's facade. The main interior features are the paintings by Lorca-born painter Muñoz Barberán, whose ceiling and curtain pieces illustrate the Venetian carnival.
