This fountain was put on its current location after the old fountain of Cañada, behind the Arab Castle, dried up.
During works to dig a new mine in 1880 from Main St. to the gardens of La Loja, a water flow was found and used to supply the new fountain and washing place.
These thermal waters flow at 20º C and are rich in sulfurous salts, giving them their unique taste and smell.
The fountain is decorated with colorful tiles showing people out in a parade to honor the Patron Saint and the esparto grass craftsmen, who played a key role in the area's economic growth up until the 1960s.
