Inaugurated on July 25, 1900, the tower was built on one of the hills, so that farmers could hear the bells and determine irrigation times. The bells sound at quarter past, quarter till and o'clock.
The tower has a height of 16 meters whereas the actual belfry is 6 meters high, amounting together to 22 meters. The tower, with three bells and 67 steps, has a public access through the area where the clock mechanism is located. Belfry access is forbidden.
