San Pedro del Pinatar

Parque Regional Las Salinas de San Pedro Place of transit and settlement for different civilizations. Part of its name (El Pinatar) comes from a large pine tree forest where people used to hunt. Later, in the 17th century, the other part of the name was added (San Pedro) after the fishermen built a temple where they paid tribute to Saint Peter. In the 19th century, San Pedro del Pinatar was one of the favorite places for people in the Murcian orchard to spend their free time and enjoy the healing properties of the Mar Menor salt lake waters.

San Pedro del Pinatar is located between the Mar Menor and Mediterranean Sea banks, making it a place of great tourist and ecological value. Beaches such as Villananitos, La Puntica, Las Salinas and La Barraca Quemada, provide tourists with relaxation and emotions that only two seas can bring. San Pedro del Pinatar is also home to the largest wetland in the Region of Murcia: the natural park of Las Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro, a large area of land bathed by the sea (over 900 hectares) where one can often see flamingos, seagulls, albatross and herons, among others. The area is also known for its movable sand dunes and their typical flora. Lastly, health and leisure lovers can go to magnificent thalassotherapy installations ideal for relaxation.
