The Tower of the Horses at Bolnuevo

The Tower of the Horses, at Bolnuevo , was built in the 16th Century a few years after the Tower of the Summit at Puerto Mazarrón, and with the same purpose to watch over this part of the coast and prevent pirate attacks, which were a constant threat to the villagers.  It also gave the fishermen ease of mind.  In later centuries, the tower underwent various refurbishments and repairs, some of them as part of the restoration plan for the towers along the coast during the 18th Century.
