This convent, former summer residence of the
Cartagena Diocese Bishop, was built by order of Victoriano López Gonzalo between 1789 and 1805. This Baroque single-ward building has a central part built in the 15
th century that was later expanded. The convent has a beautiful garden with white Ionic columns in an exedra-layout, as well as emblems on each facade and corner of the building.
The palace was destroyed during the Spanish Civil War, when all its goods, furniture and large library were burnt. After restoration, the convent is home to the Franciscans.
