Although the Anas convent was erected in the 15
th century, this church was built in the 18
th century by
Fray Antonio de San José and
Toribio Martínez de la Vega.
The church has a Latin cross floor plan with vaulted chapels between the buttresses, a typical layout of Murcian architecture at the time. On the side wards and tribunes, there is a cross under a dome on pendentives.
The Baroque decoration inside the temple is beautiful. The woodcarver José Ganga Ripoll created the plasterwork decorating pilasters and the altarpiece, in which the prestigious sculptor Francisco Salzillo participated.
