In the old quarter of
Mula, near the road connecting
Caravaca and
Murcia, sits this late 17
th century Murcian Baroque house, inhabited for many years by the
Menahermosa Marquis and his wife.
The building, currently one of the main museums in the municipality of Mula, has a ground floor, a first floor as well as a number of attics where grains and cold meats from the slaughterhouse were stored back in the days. The kitchens, well, wine and oil cellars, as well as the stables and garages, were in the ground floor, whereas the first floor was the living area of the Marquises.
After the Marquis passed away, his son extended the North side of the palace, adding another body and a chapel. Later, in 1927, part of the stables were knocked down to create the garden which can be seen today.
