This church, initially constructed in 1670 as a holy theater, was
largely remodeled in the 18th century. The facade, projected by Pedro de Escalante and Blas López, was built by Pablo Sixtori. In 1995 it was decided that this church should house the
Salzillo Museum; to do that, it was necessary to equip and condition the church so that it could house the thrones sculpted by the great artist Francisco Salzillo.
The church is also the seat of the Royal Fraternity of Our Father Jesus of Nazareth, which takes to the streets on Easter Friday.
