Little coastal town in the Mar Menor area with seven kilometers of beach, from Los Narejos to Punta Brava. The economy of Los Alcázares is based mostly on the tourist industry. The town's name comes from the Arab term Al Kazar, meaning "castle" or "fortress". Back then, Los Alcázares was a retreat and resting place for rich Muslim families. In the late Middle Ages and early Modern Age, a number of defense towers were built to protect Mar Menor from the attacks of Berber pirates. The towers of Rame, Silva and Negro, among others, are still standing today.
Hotel Balneario La Encarnación was built on the shores of Los Alcázares in 1904. This spa-hotel has excellent thermal waters ideal for therapeutic treatments. If you like sports, the town's Marine Resort is perfect for sailing, windsurf and kayaking all year round because of its warm temperatures. Golf is another excellent option, either in the municipal golf course or in three private courses located just a few kilometers away.
