Lo Pagán

located in the municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar

Playa de Villananitos Along the Mar Menor Salt Lake we find Lo Pagan, a coastal town famous for the healing effects of its mud baths, perfect for skin and rheumatic diseases. The most popular area for these baths is Las Charcas de las salinas. Generation after generation, La Puntica and Villananitos remain as favorite beaches where kids can play safely because even in deep waters...water will barely reach your waist. These beaches are also ideal for senior visitors who can enjoy medicinal baths rich in mineral contents, including salt and iodine. Another gem of Lo Pagan is Las Salinas de San Pedro, a wildlife reserve where one can see gorgeous salt flats and migratory birds, including flamingos. If you are about food, make sure to go for a stop in one of the excellent restaurants in the area. Their specialties are salted tuna, gray mullet and the tasty Mar Menor prawns. The star dish is caldero, a typical rice dish in all this area. Try some of the local fish, including gray mullet and seabream cooked in salt; you can't go wrong!
