Airforce City

Ciudad del Aire, on the shores of Mar Menor in the town of Santiago de la Ribera, used to separate the districts of Lo Pagán (San Pedro del Pinatar) and Santiago de la Ribera (San Javier).

 

This military colony was built in the 40s to accommodate, for a low rental fee, the families of the soldiers serving at the Spanish Air Force Academy.

 

An agreement signed between INVIFAS (Housing Institute of the Military Forces) and the San Javier City Hall establishes that Ciudad del Aire will become a municipality neighborhood. Many of the 471 houses in this neighborhood are abandoned.
