Leisure and outdoors activities in Ricote

Ricote offers a large variety of natural areas and sites, with an abrupt environment characterized by arid ravines, cliffs and abundant vegetation. In the winter, snow covers the mountain tops. 

 

Half the territory of Ricote is forest, making it an ideal place for outdoor activities such as trekking, with a network of over 100 kilometers of signposted trails. The surrounding sierras are excellent for mountain sports, with challenging hikes that have slopes of around 1.000 meters. The extensive forest trail network is perfect for mountain bikes, whereas the twists and turns in the sierras unveil limestone walls ideal for rock climbing, with many perfectly-equipped routes of various technical difficulty. This area is also magnificent for horse riding through some of the most interesting and emblematic spots in the valley, where there is also interesting fauna and flora species. Some of these are a clear example of evolution and adaption to the characteristics of the environment.
