Located on the left bank of the Segura river under the El Castillo hill, Ulea is a collage combining green fertile lots with the dry landscape of the surrounding mountains. Its narrow streets, and continuous flow of water through fountains, tanks and waterwheels, reveal the marked Muslim footprint of this town, where orchards are decorated with palm trees to create a landscape of great beauty.
When in Ulea, don't forget to visit the church Iglesia de San Bartolomé, El Gurugú, a landscape right out of A Thousand and One Nights, as well as Casa del Cura, the old residence of the knights.
