Near the municipality of
Mazarrón we find Sierra de las Moreras, in which the highest point is Morrón Blanco, with 492 meters. The protected area in this sierra has been expanded a number of times; it now includes the moreras ravine, known to have important colonies of white-headed and ferruginous ducks, both in danger of extinction, as well as birds of prey like pilgrim hawks, Bonelli's eagles and eagle owls, among others.
The natural park goes from the sierra itself in the North to the ravine and ponds in the south side, known for the
Bolnuevo Eroded Formations also called “enchanted city” by locals because of the magical rock formations shaped by erosion.
