16th century. Baroque Style.
Located in the historic center of the town, inside houses one of the most important examples of Baroque altarpieces in the Region of Murcia: the main altarpiece (1694) by Ginés López, altarpieces of the transept (1730-1735) by Jerónimo Caballero and the Altarpiece of the Virgen de los Dolores (1691) by Manuel Caro.
This church was built as a member part of the Convent of San Francisco in 1561. During the seventeenth century, remodeling works took place on the church, such as increasing the height of the nave, or the construction of the bell tower.
The Convent Church of San Francisco is home to the Brotherhood of Labradores, one of the most important brotherhoods of the city, whose owner is the Virgen de los Dolores.
