Plaza Caudillo,7
Mazarrón, Murcia
Telf: 968 591 810
Spanish name: Casino ó Ateneo Cultural
Little is known about this beautiful eclectic building, of great architectural and environmental interest. Neither the exact date of its construction nor the architect are known, although we do know that it must have been built in the last decades of the 19th century. There are doubts as to whether it was intended as a dwelling or for recreational purposes (as a casino). A particularly noteworthy feature inside the building is the peculiar cast iron spiral staircase, attributed to the EIFFEL school, beautifully finished but totally impractical, and which is the only way of reaching the different floors.
