Science and Water Museum The original building housed the Belén tanks, built in the second half of the 20th century to supply drinking water to the city. The tank or reservoir was rectangular, had a surface of 2421.90 m2, masonry walls, upper wrought enclosure with perimeter support, and an orthogonal structure of reinforced concrete pillars and beams creating exposed concrete domes.

The project for erecting a new Science Museum at the old city tanks location was approved in 1994. The new building, created by the municipal architects Miguel Angel Beloqui and José Carlos Robles Fernández, was inaugurated on December 23, 1996 by the city's Major Miguel Angel Cámara Botía.
