In the 19th century, in underwent major renovation work, including the incorporation of decoration, furniture and paintings of the era.Concepción Sandoval, Baroness of Petré y Mayals, donated the palace to the town of Lorca at the end of the 20th century to be restored and converted into a museum.

The facade represents an impressive altarpiece with Solomonic columns where religious images are replaced by the family coat of arms and that of the Order of Santiago. The inner patio, with its arches supported by marble columns, leads to the garden and palace rooms.

Today the building is used as a museum and cultural activities, exhibitions and tours
