Our Lady of Rosario Church

Our Lady of Rosario Church It is in San Francisco Street and dates from the 18th century although it was partially restored during the 20th century.It has a Latin cross ground plan with a main nave and two side naves. In the upper part we can still see pieces of the fresco which decorated the church. The Church is devoted to the Virgin of Rosario, patron Saint of the village.Her image is on the main altarand it was carved by José Lozano Roca in the second half of the 20th century, in poly-chorome wood and in a bigger size than her full size. It represents the virgin with Jesus Child and the rosary. Ther first image was a sculpture by Salzillo that disappeared during the Civil War. Some important elements in this church are the Ecce Homo picture from the 17th century in the main altar, the 19th century pipe organ in the recently restored choir and the Penitential Chapel,Where an old Castilian ashlar stands out.
