This is the only Dominican settlement in the town and it was established in Lorca in 1551on the site of the old Chapel of Nuestra Señora de la Piedad (Our Lady of Piety). Members took a vow of poverty and were renown for their theology studies. The church has a single nave and one of its most important features is the Chapel of Cristo del Rescate (Christ the Redeemer) where some of the original wall murals have been recovered. Part of the convent cloister can also be seen and is currently open to the city.
Today the church houses the Paso Blanco (White Float) Embroidery Museum. The Paso Blanco is one of the main brotherhoods that participate in the biblical Passion processions held in Lorca in Holy Week. The museum exhibits a rich heritageof embroidery, tunics and floats of thrones.
