Water Icarus

Crta. de los Alcázares
30700 -Torre Pacheco-

Spanish name: Icaro Hídrico

Icaro Hídrico This 5-meter statue made in steel and copper by Molina-born artist Pepe Yagües in 2005, represents Icarus, who according to Greek mythology escaped from the Crete labyrinth using wax wings made by his father Daedalus. Sun heat eventually melted the wings and Icarus fell to the ground. To represent this event, the sculpture has a spray system causing water to come out of the wings.
