Gunpowder Factory of Murcia was founded in 1654, when the "Royal Treasury" bought the land to the Church, and was the workplace of thousands murcian people. The facade of the building dating back to 1755.
By Royal Order of June 16, 1864 is given the Gunpowder Factory of Murcia to the State on August 17, 1865. Its first director was the artillery colonel, Don Robustiano Aballe Gil. Until 1868 gunpowder was stored and refined, this date leads to carbonization of shives. In 1879 were installed the furnaces and the chimney.
During the Revolutionary War of Independence, this was the only gunpowder factory in Spain that provided with gunpowder and bullets to guerrilla bands.
