Cross between Álamo str. & Lope Gisbert str.
Spanish name: Escudo de los García Alcaráz
16th Century. Renaissance style.
This large coat of arms is located in the tower of a building constructed recently on the presumed site of the palace belonging to this important local family.
It is considered a magnificent example of stone sculpture of this type due to the amount of detail and the quality of the work. The family shield is in the centre surrounded by a garland of fruit. Arround that is a complex weave of human figures and symbols that may represent the social pretensions of local leaders at the time. On either side of this are two large warriors in Roman dress.
