Calle del Pilar, núm. 8
30004 Murcia
This chapel was built by Aragon-born
Magistrate Francisco Pueyo who as legend has it, was attacked and hurt by a criminal when he came to Murcia. To get better, he commended himself to Our Lady of Pilar. Once healed, Mr. Pueyo built the chapel in 1683 to express his gratitude.
The single-ward chapel has balconies for the pilgrims but no altar. The simple, pleasant facade is decorated with a royal emblem. There are two additional emblems with six crowns, before King Felipe V gave Murcia a seventh crown. Inside there is a painting and a figure of Our Lady of Pilar which has two silver clothespings decorated with precious stones.
