The line end railway station of
Cartagena offers medium and long distance services. The Queen Isabel II inaugurated the station in October 1862, taking the train from Cartagena to Murcia. However, it did not open to the public until February 1863.
The passenger building, of modernist style, was erected during the years 1906 and 1907 by the architect Víctor Beltrí. This U-shaped station has a central two-story building with two one-floor wards that go all the way to the railway platforms on both ends. The main entrance to the station is decorated with ceramics and modernist ornaments.
