This Salt Mill processed much of the product coming out of the ancient salt plants of
San Pedro del Pinatar.
The Mill, which was essential to bring water from Mar Menor to the Salt Ponds, is comprised of a conical tower with a rotating top, which had a long rudder allowing movement of the sail to optimize wind power. A system of gears transformed the movement to the lower part of mill, where a bucket belt carried water from the sea to the reservoirs.
