The Segura river runs through seven kilometers of this municipality, splitting its lands into two riverbanks of terraced lots where fruit trees grow and fill the air with fresh aromas. Archena, oasis of the Region of Murcia, is at the South head of the Ricote valley, surrounded by rugged mountains covered by a vegetation blanket.
Many historians base the origin of this town in the year 234 b.c., although the town's name and population growth did not happen until the Roman times. One of the main attractions of Archena is its thermal spas, with healing waters that spring naturally out of the earth at 50 degrees Celsius. Balneario de Archena is not just a spa, but also a source of history, with Roman traces dating back to more than 2,000 years ago, when people were already benefiting from the incredible properties of its waters.
