Albudeite

Albudeite, name from an Arab term meaning "that of scarce water", has a population of just over 1,000 people who live in the District of Mula, at the very heart of the Region of Murcia. This town of Visigothic origin has learned throughout the centuries to use its natural resources, especially the Mula river, which has favored the development of large orchards and palm groves in this dry, arid environment.

The landmark of Albudeite is Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, a 16th century church home to magnificent sculptures by Francisco Salzillo and Nicolás de Bussi. It is also worth paying a visit to the Maciaján waterwheel, with a structure built entirely of metal.
