Alguazas

Alguazas The area that is now Alguazas has been inhabited since ancient times because of its location between the Mula and Segura rivers. In fact, its actual name derives from the Arabic words Aluazta or Alhuasta, meaning "the one in the middle". Visitors to the municipality of Alguazas can enjoy la torre vieja or torre de Los Moros, meaning "old tower" of "tower of the Moors". This castle, the oldest standing in the Region of Murcia, is a square-based construction built on the ruins of an Arab cemetery from the early 13th century. Another interesting monument worth checking out is Iglesia de San Onofre, where the sounds of baroque styled tubes in the large organ of this old church, will certainly captivate the listener.
